Qualifying

There are no prerequisites to ride any of the Arizona brevets. Most riders will want to ride them in order of increasing distance, since the shorter brevets prepare them for the longer ones. However, you can enter any brevet as long as you feel prepared.

Arizona brevets can be used as qualifiers for 1200 kilometer events like Paris-Brest-Paris (August), Boston-Montreal-Boston (August), Colorado Last Chance (September), Gold Rush Randonnee (July), and Rocky Mountain 1200 (July).

A few things to remember about qualifying for other events:

  • For Paris Brest Paris the brevets can be done in any order. It used to be that you had to complete the brevets in order of increasing distance. For example, you had to ride a 200 km before a 300 km. This is no longer true for PBP.
  • To use a brevet as a qualifier you must complete the brevet within the time limit.
  • Keep in mind that the events you are trying to qualify for are probably hillier than the Casa Grande brevets in Arizona. It would be a good idea to do additional training or brevets in a hillier environment, for example:
