Hello riders,

Here are some last minute notes about the events being held this Saturday (Jan 2). Please read through all of this information as procedures are different this year than in years past.

  1. If you downloaded the cue sheet and/or the GPS map before you rcvd this email, please download it again. Some information has changed.
  2. Both distances are running concurrently and all are planned to start at the same time, 07:30. It is daylight at that time and, therefore, lights will not be required. There will only be about 11 hours of daylight so if you think you might take longer than 10 hours, please bring your lights. Be smart, Be safe!
  3. You must print and bring your own documentsGPS file and cue sheet are linked at www.azbrevet.com, and the control cards are linked below.
  4. There are a number of NEW RUSA members. First, Welcome! Next, please familiarize yourself with the rules for riders (https://rusa.org/pages/rulesForRiders). There are some specifics that may be foreign to you. Also, please read and understand how you go about verifying your ride. Details may be found HERE.
  5. Let the ride organizer know when you decide not to start, begin, end, or abandon your ride. Send an email or text to notify me - Mike Sturgill: 602.702.2132. My name and number are also on the cue sheet and brevet cards. Please also let me know if you're running late as I will be riding and won't be there when you arrive.
  6. I will provide a coupon for lunch at Subway. You can get a 6" sub, chips and small drink.
  7. Please park at the end of the Safeway store as shown in the map below. You will be entering the plaza from different directions as shown in the map.

Proof of passage for RUSA credit for a completed ride can be achieved three ways. It is your choice of which method you choose.
  1. Every rider should be prepared to collect and submit proof of passage for RUSA credit.  The current protocol is detailed in this LINK. Please familiarize yourself with the verification methods BEFORE the ride so that you are not surprised.
  2. Electronic proof of passage (EPP), by submitting a public track of your ride that shows the time it began and ended. NOTE: GPS devices can, and do, fail. If YOU choose this as your only method of verification, YOU also accept the responsibility that if something goes wrong, you will not get credit for the ride. Plan accordingly.
  3. Digital photographs taken on your phone or digital camera at each control, submitted via email after the ride. The 1st Control (Usery Pass) is an Informational Control. You may photograph the sign in lieu of filling in the card blanks with the sign's information.
  4. A traditional control card with receipts from commercial controls and answers at information controls, submitted by email of the scanned information after the ride (no photos of the receipts and card - too hard to read).  The control card can only be obtained by printing it in advance of the ride from these links:
    1. 100k: Brevet card HERE
    2. 200k: Brevet card HERE
  5. Proof of passage must be submitted to the organizer @ mikesturgill@cox.net  All proof of passage must be emailed within 48 hours of ride completion, because results for all riders will only be sent to RUSA after all results are received.
Let me know if you have any questions.
