It may take a day or so for it to appear. Registered riders WILL be sent a "Last Minute Notes" email the day after registration closes, normally the Thursday before the ride. As you ride along the Lower Salt River, wild horses are regularly seen along the entire stretch. This route will explore numerous nice cycling areas in the far North Phoenix valley. The climbing will be modest and none are particularly challenging. Areas visited on the 300k include: Phoenix Sonoran Preserve, Peoria Regional Preserve, Lake Pleasant, Cave Creek, Saguaro Lake and Usery Mountain Regional Park. It's a scenic route with not much to slow you down. Directions: Take AZ-51 to Union Hills Dr exit. Go west for about 1 mile to Cortado Coffee on Northeast Corner of 32nd St & Union Hills Dr. It is just east of the CVS Pharmacy.There is a Park and Ride lot at PV Community College on the SE Corner Other businesses are located on this corner. Cue sheets may be downloaded and printed by riders if they wish. Cue sheets will NOT be passed out at the start. Make sure you have a cue sheet as a backup in case your GPS fails. Elevation Profile
This route climbs roughly 7,800' total feet. All of the climbs are long, gradual and not particularly difficult. Requirements Lights, reflective vest, ankle bands: Required. There will be a light inspection at check-in to verify front and rear lights are working and are sufficient for night riding.
